VANCOUVER - Member of Parliament and Liberal leadership candidate Joyce Murray, today hosted three public teletownhalls across the country to discuss her leadership bid directly with Liberal voters from coast to coast to coast.
Thousands of Canadians phoned in to listen to MP Murray answer questions on topics ranging from how she plans to help Canada become a truly Sustainable Society - one that is economically, environmentally and socially sustainable for generations to come - to her cooperation proposal.
"It was an immense pleasure to speak directly with so many engaged and concerned Liberals and hear about the issues that matter most to them," said MP Murray. "As I listened to Liberals from each region of the country, I was heartened to hear that so many support the need for electoral reform and political cooperation, and the need to link economic development with environmental sustainability."
Throughout the 3 teletownhalls, MP Murray also answered questions about her plans to develop a new relationship with indigenous peoples, stabilize seasonal industries, ensure women are at the table in leadership roles in the country's decision-making processes, double annual immigration admission targets over the next decade, attend to income inequality and reform the health of our democracy.
"It is clear that Canadians do not feel represented by the Harper government's narrow-minded, ideological policies that pit one group of Canadians against each another," concluded MP Murray. "Canadians want a government that produces clear strategic plans for the future, not marketing plans for re-election. It's about giving Canadians what they want: a modern, democratic, healthy and prosperous Canada."
