Please join MP Joyce Murray at her Friday, October 21, 2016 MP Breakfast Connections with special guest Prem Gill, CEO of Creative BC: “Canadian content in the digital age – accepting the challenge?”
In the age of change, rapidly evolving digital technologies are transforming the way Canadians access and consume information and entertainment. Over-the-Top platforms such as Netflix are increasingly popular, and this access to foreign programming can be seen to coincide with downward trends in cable subscriptions. Canada’s cultural and creative industries are important drivers of innovation, and they are essential to our national identity and economy. How will Canadian Content, and those employed by the industry, succeed and adapt within this evolving digital landscape?
Prem Gill is CEO, Creative BC, the non-profit society responsible for sustaining and growing BC’s creative industries, including the development of indigenous content and intellectual property. Prem brings over 20 years of experience in the industry with a diverse background in film and television broadcasting, communications, media, and digital technology. She is also the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Screen Institute, Advisor to Women in View, and former Board Director for the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Come hear Prem share her insights, experiences and comments on the creative economy in our digital age.
