Having an elderly mother here in Vancouver, quality care for seniors is an issue that is very close to me. Our government has been hard at work for seniors, and the loved ones who care for them. Budget 2017 has put more money toward home, and mental health care, which will help seniors stay independent for longer and receive care in their homes whenever possible. We are modernizing rules around patented drug prices for the first time in over 20 years to protect Canadians, particularly seniors, from excessive drug prices. Finally, with the creation of the new Canada Caregiver Credit, not only will the caregiver credit system be simplified, it will also make it easier for Canadians with elderly relatives like me, or sick relatives to take time off and care for them. These measures will all help provide better support to those who need it the most.
