Mr. Speaker. This week, more than 250,000 federal public servants across the country are celebrating National Public Service Week.
Public service is a way to make a difference in the lives of millions of Canadians and people all over the world.
Nous sommes choyés au Canada de pouvoir compter sur une fonction publique de classe mondiale.
Whether it’s supporting those displaced by the wild fires in Fort McMurray or helping Syrian refugees settle into their communities, public servants rise to the occasion and go above and beyond.
The Government is counting on the public service’s full engagement to implement its ambitious and progressive agenda.
I’d also like to highlight a new Government program:
The Indigenous Youth Summer Employment Opportunity connects Indigenous youth with summer jobs in the Public Service. We’ll need the full participation of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples to tackle the complex challenges of this century.
Today, I salute the good work of Canada’s public servants and I encourage each Member to do the same.
